Food and construction materials delivered to Yakutia's Arctic via the North Sea Route

Yakutopttorg brought socially important food products to the Arctic regions of Yakutia via the North Sea Route for the first time.

About 730 tons of food as well as materials for the construction of three shopping and logistics centres were delivered from Astrakhan to the Chersky polar settlement by the STK-1012 ship. This is reported by the press service of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

Food was purchased directly from producers in Krasnodar Territory and Astrakhan Region and delivered to supply Bulunsky, Ust-Yansky, Nizhnekolymsky, Srednekolymsky and Verkhnekolymsky districts. The vessel with the cargo left the port of Astrakhan in August and then through the Tiksi settlement, Bulunsky district, arrived in the Chersky settlement, Nizhnekolymsky district. In all, the ship was in transit for two months.

Products include flour, sugar, cereals, pasta, sunflower oil, canned goods, juices, apples, onions and potatoes. The additional volume of food for the Kolyma group of uluses was sent on the refrigerator ships Magdeburg (416.7 tons) and Rosslau (101.5 tons), which will arrive in the Chersky settlement on 4–5 October.

Previously, socially important goods were delivered by rail and during the navigation period by water on rivers, while the remainder was delivered by motorized winter roads. In addition, last year, food was delivered to hard-to-reach naslegs using small aircraft.
