Yury Trutnev, Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, held a meeting of the State Commission for Arctic Development. The modernisation of production capacity of shipbuilding and ship repair organisations, development of transport corridors using the North Sea Route and its water areas, creation of the Snezhinka international Arctic station, the programme of cluster development of solid minerals deposits in the Arctic zone of Russia were discussed during the meeting. The construction of gas carriers and shuttle tankers was also discussed.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia presented proposals on assistance to shipbuilding enterprises. Thus, the Ministry is working on measures of state support for shipbuilding and ship repair, not only through state programmes but also on the basis of other mechanisms.

The agenda of the meeting included a discussion of the development of existing and the formation of new transport corridors using the North Sea Route. As Yury Trutnev reminded the attendees, work on the development of the international transport corridor is ongoing.

A year-round Arctic research station Snezhinka will be built in Yamal, using advanced technologies in the field of clean energy production and life support systems.

The participants discussed the cluster development of deposits of solid minerals in the AZRF. This consolidation of subsoil areas into mining clusters will make it possible to create large-tonnage subsoil areas with relatively low metal content in ores, and a unified supporting infrastructure will minimise capital costs for the development of deposits and increase their efficiency.

In the framework of the Presidium of the State Commission for Arctic Development, the issue of subsidising the interest rate on loans for investment projects in the AZRF was raised. The decision on the possibility of providing subsidies totalling RUB 1.4 bn in 2022 to five investment projects was approved. The total investment in these projects will amount to RUB 573 bn. Their implementation will create more than 2,000 jobs.
