The First Resident Company of the Arctic Zone will open a laundry facility in Yamal
25.10.2024 // AZRF resident, TechnoYamal LLC, launched production of aerated concrete blocks in the town of Labytnangi in the second quarter of 2024. At present, the plant workshop operates one shift, producing 40 m³ of finished products per day. In the near future, the company's management plans to reach a volume of 200 m³ per day, which will amount to 5,000 m³ per month.
According to Anton Goncharov, the company's General Director, the impetus for the project was the growing popularity of aerated concrete as an affordable alternative to brick—currently the most popular composite material for highly energy-efficient buildings.
In the Far North, it's crucial to minimise the energy required for space heating—houses need to be heated almost year-round, except for the brief summer months. The thermal conductivity of D500 grade aerated concrete when dry is four times lower than that of solid brick, and slightly lower than that of wood. Another key advantage, says Goncharov, is that the blocks can be placed very close together and joined with a special adhesive. It's considerably thinner than a standard cement layer, which also affects heat conductivity, as cement typically acts as a 'cold bridge.' According to Goncharov, another additional advantage of aerated concrete for Arctic regions is its overall resistance to the harsh Northern climate—for instance, in Scandinavian countries, you can find aerated concrete houses that are over 70 years old.
In Yamal, TechnoYamal's customers include both large developers and individuals—the company's products are used in private and multi-storey housing construction, as well as for industrial facilities.
'The key feature of our project is the simplicity and reliability of the technological solution. Why order "from the ground" when we can do it ourselves?', notes the company's director, adding that the company has no difficulties in delivering finished products to customers.
»In Yamal, aerated concrete is delivered by road transport across regional routes without any delays.
The TechnoYamal project attracted investments totalling RUB 31.5 mn. Goncharov states that AZRF resident status significantly eased the initial launch of the idea and reduced the financial burden during the company's early stages. The company currently employs 34 people and is poised for future expansion. TechnoYamal's General Director highlighted that the aerated concrete block market in YNAA has a monthly growth potential of 4,500 m³, with room for further expansion as the Arctic region develops.
The Arctic zone of the Russian Federation currently boasts 754 registered residents, with a declared investment volume of RUB 862 bn. Residents of the special economic zone in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area are offered a 75% subsidy on insurance premiums for the first decade and a reduced profit tax of 5% for the initial five years. Tourism projects are offered additional benefits, including a reduced property tax of 1.1%, zero land tax for the first three years and a simplified taxation system with a 1% rate on income.
