Voices of the Arctic is three short stories about the people of the Far North and their life choices. Each story tells about traditions, daily routine and the role of music in the characters’ lives. This film is about the struggle of two civilisations: the modern world and the ethnos with a centuries-long history. The filming took place in three regions: the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, the Nenets Autonomous Area and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The distribution of the film will begin on 9 June.

The first short story is about a young Nenets girl Masne, a TikTok actress who is torn between popularity and peaceful family life in the chum. The second part is the story of the Taybarey family, pagans, and the owners of a folk clothing workshop. The third story introduces viewers to Nikolay Kurilov, author of the iconic poem The Native, which he wrote in the Yukaghir language. Translated into Russian, it was heard in the Brother 2 film and became a symbol of an entire generation.

Denis Simachev, a restaurateur, DJ, and sound producer from Moscow, became the recurring character of the stories. He went on an expedition to the North to record the voices of the Arctic and put them together into one musical composition. In the finale, he will play a spectacular DJ set on a huge all-terrain vehicle Burlak.

The film’s distributor is the Central Partnership film company, and ROSIZO company is the Voices of the Arctic partner. The film was directed by Ivan Vdovin, the general producers are Yulia Lipatova and Polina Avetikova, and the scriptwriter is Ivan Zavaruev.
