At the end of 2021 the tourist traffic to the Murmansk region was about 486 thousand people, including 21.5 thousand foreigners. According to Alexander Eliseev, the chairman of the Tourism Committee of the region, this figure has surpassed the pre-pandemic level and is a new record.

'Increased demand for travel in the Kola region has also led to a significant increase in the number of local travel agencies. Currently, there are 66 travel agencies in the region. By comparison, there were 43 travel agencies in the same period last year and 37 in 2019. They represent different tour options for residents of the Murmansk Region and tourists,' — said Eliseev.

Skijoring, kiting, diving, rafting, hiking in protected areas, SUP-tours, whale hunting and mineralogical tours are all expected to be particularly popular in the Murmansk region during the 2022 season.

Traditionally, the top five destinations for summer holidays in the Murmansk Region are: Sredny and Rybachy peninsulas, Khibiny, Teriberka, Lovozero tundra, Tersky coast. Particular attention will also be paid to Arctic cuisine. The Murmansk Region is an active participant in the 'Gastronomic Map of Russia' federal project, due to which the region has become one of the leaders in gastronomic tourism in the Russian Federation. Currently, there are more than 20 catering establishments in the Murmansk region working under the Arctic Kitchen format. Summer tourist season will be rich in cultural activities as well. For example, there are more than 20 major events to be held, which are expected to attract locals and visitors from all over Russia. The Arctic Festival 'Teriberka', Imandra Viking Fest and Gastro Industry festivals will be the main events of the 2022 summer season.
