Murmansk to establish an educational centre for Arctic shipbuilding and repair
The project aims to train 750 people over three years, starting in 2024.
23 July 2024The Northern Production Association Arktika and the Murmansk Region Ministry of Education signed partnership agreements for the federal project 'Professionalism'. This was reported by the Atomic Energy 2.0 portal.
The agreement establishes an Arctic Shipbuilding and Repair educational and production centre at the Murmansk Industrial College. Project partners include NPA Arktika and branches of the Sevmorput Naval Shipyard No. 35 and NERPA Shipyard (all part of United Shipbuilding Corporation).
The project aims to train 750 people over three years, starting in 2024. Students will study mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, metal ship repair, electrical work and other fields. Over 80% of graduates will be guaranteed employment.
NPA Arktika previously established the Severny branch at the Sevmorput Naval Shipyard No. 35 in Murmansk. Branch specialists perform electrical installations on repaired vessels and provide ship maintenance services.
