First Chartered Vessel Carrying Coal from Taymyr's Syradasayskoye Deposit Bound for China

The design capacity of the open-pit mine's first phase is estimated at 5 million tpy.

According to the correspondent of PortNews IAA, Vaidas Vyšniauskas, Deputy Director General of Severnaya Zvezda (a subsidiary of the AEON holding company), an investor in the development of the Syradasayskoye deposit, confirmed the information that the vessel is carrying coal mined in the field to China.

According to Vaidas Vyšniauskas, mining has so far yielded 100,000 tonnes of coal, with a further 260,000 tonnes expected until the end of 2022.

Severnaya Zvezda LLC, a resident of the Russian Federation's Arctic Zone, is in charge of carrying out the project for the development of the Syradasayskoye coal deposit. It is classified as a regional investment project and is a part of the Yeniseyskaya Sibir integrated investment project. The Syradasayskoye deposid is located in the Taymyr Dolgano-Nenets District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, 110 kilometres southeast of the settlement of Dixon.

The deposit is estimated to hold over 5 bn tonnes of coal. The project entails building a processing plant, a coal mine with an annual capacity of 5 million tonnes and 10 million tons, respectively, at the first and second phases, as well as the required infrastructure, such as the Yenisey seaport, a motorway, and shift camps, as well as power plants, airfields, and other facilities. Investments of at least RUB 45 billion per year will be made, and the proj will create about 2,000 jobs through 2025.
