Approximately RUB 1.5 bn to Be Spent on the Recreation of Arctic Children by 2026

Free trips to southern cities will be provided to students from 5th to 8th grades who are studying in the Arctic region.

The execution of the program for the health improvement of Arctic children from 2024 to 2026 will necessitate around RUB 1.5 bn. TASS reports citing Ilya Nikiforov, the Head of the Human Capital Development and Personnel Training Division of the Department of Social Development of the Far East and Arctic of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East.

"In 2024-2026, we also plan to allocate RUB 500 mln annually," he said during the All-Russian Forum titled Russia — Home of Nations.

Students from 5th to 8th grade in general education programs living in the Arctic zone are given the chance to travel to southern cities for free for recreation and health improvement.

Nikiforov added that in 2023, RUB 450 mln was allocated for this purpose, allowing about 8 thousand children to have a vacation.

The ministry representative also highlighted that support mechanisms are being consistently developed in the Arctic. Under the Arctic Hectare program, nearly 5,000 land plots have been granted. Under the Arctic Mortgage program, over 2.3 thousand loans have been issued.
