During the meeting, they discussed the development of Polar Urals infrastructure for the Snezhinka international research station and tourism cluster, as well as the project to modernise the port of Labytnangi, an important logistics hub for the development of promising mining centres in the north of the region.

Dmitry Artyukhov informed the minister about the start of the Snezhinka international research site designing works. A site in the Nefritovaya Valley (Jade Valley) of the Polar Urals has been selected for its location. The project is being implemented jointly with the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

Snezhinka will be the first research station to operate fully autonomously on hydrogen energy. Scientists from around the world will be able to study climate change, permafrost, alternative energy sources and conduct sociocultural research here.

The territory in the Polar Urals will be actively developed in the coming years. In addition to the research station, a tourism cluster is being created there, which is included in the Russian Arctic Zone Development Strategy. The project includes the creation of a ski resort, a chain of hotels of various classes, catering, leisure and entertainment facilities, as well as the necessary transport infrastructure. The cluster will also include the Kharbei natural complex, the Land of Hope ethno-cattle range, and unique natural sites such as the Bolshoye Shchuchye and Khadatayoganlor lakes. Implementation of the project will generate more than RUB 20 bn in tax revenues for the budgets of all levels, and it will create more than 1,700 jobs during the construction phase and the same number during the operation phase.

Aleksey Chekunkov, head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, noted that the Arctic concession mechanism, which aims to accelerate the creation of engineering and social infrastructure, may be applied to the construction of infrastructure facilities in Yamal.
