The Hectare in the Arctic program has been operating in the Arkhangelsk region since 2021, when Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the Far Eastern Hectare program to Arctic territories. This was reported by the press service of the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region.

To date, 670 people in the region have received land plots under this program, including residents of Pomorie and other regions of the Russian Federation. Seven program participants have already registered ownership of the land ahead of schedule.

"The authorities are very careful in selecting territories," explained Alexander Smetanin. "We try to consider the needs of residents, selecting plots near populated areas and relatively close to infrastructure. This approach helps to reduce the financial burden on local governments and program participants in terms of infrastructure construction."

Mostly, people use the plots obtained through the program for individual housing construction. Interestingly, 81 participants of the program, who have also received plots, are registered outside the Arkhangelsk region. According to Alexander Smetanin, those intending to develop land in Pomorie are showing interest in Onega, Primorsky, Mezensky, Pinezhsky districts, and Arkhangelsk.
