Yuri Trutnev: Vorkuta and Inta Need Non-Trivial Solutions to Support and Develop the Economy

Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, held a meeting on the further development of the single-industry towns of Vorkuta and Inta of the Komi Republic.

11 July 2020

Last August, the Russian leader set the task to develop a plan for the further development of Vorkuta and Inta with a focus on supporting employment. 'The socio-economic situation is deteriorating in these single-industry towns. I must honestly say that the development of Vorkuta and Inta is a serious challenge for both the region and the federal centre', said Yuri Trutnev.

'There are no other designed tools yet for single-industry towns apart from the ASEZ mode. But this tool is clearly not enough. Therefore, we must separately think about the development and implementation of additional tools. I do not exclude some non-trivial solutions. It is necessary to analyse all available resources in order to help diversify the economy of single-industry towns. It is necessary to develop such tools quickly enough, within a month. Not only authorities but also companies operating in these territories should contribute to this work', Yuri Trutnev summed up the meeting.
