The Rai-Iz tourist complex in Yamal aims to host 150,000 visitors in its first year
The complex's first phase is set to open in late 2026 or early 2027.
19 July 2024The upcoming Rai-Iz tourist complex in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area expects to welcome about 150,000 visitors in its first year, according to Olga Filipenkova, Managing Director of the Centre for Tourism Development in the Polar Urals.
Construction is scheduled to begin later this year. Filipenkova stated that the complex's first phase should be operational by late 2026 or early 2027.
'We expect 150,000 guests in the first year of operation. This includes both day-trippers and those staying for longer periods,' she added.
As reported, Gazprombank, Azimut Hotels Company (one of the largest hotel operators in the Russian Federation) and STC Sheregesh Management Company LLC signed a concession agreement with the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area government in 2022 to design, build and operate the Rai-Iz ski complex in the Polar Urals. The total capital investment is estimated at RUB 13.5 bn. This tourist complex marks the first use of the concession mechanism in Russia's tourism sector.
