The Northern sea route will develop as a global transport corridor for international transport by the 2030s, first Deputy head of the Ministry of Eastern Development of the Russian Federation Alexander Krutikov said at the international forum "days of the Arctic and Antarctic in Moscow", TASS news Agency reports.

"Russia has every opportunity to offer the world a fundamentally new logistics thanks to the Northern sea route. The decisions that are being taken today on the development and construction of icebreakers and ports are aimed at ensuring that in some time, in the 2030s the Northern sea route will develop as a global transport corridor for international transport, " Krutikov said.

He noted that the Northern sea route is a fundamentally new economic project of the Russian Federation and the shortest sea route.

"Today, as you know, sea logistics is the cheapest, and its share in international transportation is growing. The investments that are being made now are investments in the future, 10-15 years for the development of the state is not such a long horizon," Krutikov concluded.
