SPIEF presented the best tourist routes of the regions of the Arctic zone of Russia

The presentation of the best tourist routes of the AZRF regions was held at the stand of the Ministry of the Russian Far East Development — 'The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue'.

As part of the business programme of the Arctic stand of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic at the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russian bloggers, travellers and heads of relevant organisations and departments have presented the most promising areas of travel for tourists in the Russian Arctic. The operator of the Russian presidency plan is the Roscongress Foundation.

According to Alexander Eliseev, the Chairman of the Committee on Tourism of the Murmansk Region, the easiest way to visit the Arctic zone is a trip to the Murmansk Region. In particular, he stressed that those who travel to this region can see the northern lights not only in December and January but also in late August and April.

Anna Borchikova, Head of Tourism of the Republic of Karelia, in turn, called snowmobile tours, culinary tourism, trips to ponds and waterfalls, as well as recreation among the main areas of tourism in the region.

According to Alexander Terentyev, Head of the Agency for Tourism Development and Promotion of the Komi Republic, the distinctive features of the Komi Republic are natural beauty and amazing ethnic component. The main transportation hubs are Syktyvkar, Ukhta and Vorkuta.

During the session, Alexey Zhirukhin, a blogger and author of the 'Travel with Meaning' channel in Yandex.Zen, shared his experience of travelling in the Nenets Autonomous Area. According to the traveller, the main places of interest for tourists in the region are the Arctic tundra, temporary roads, also called 'winter roads,' as well as the town of Pustozersk near Naryan-Mar, which is the place where the development of the Russian Arctic began.

Presentation of the best tourist routes of AZRF was held at the 'The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue' stand at the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which was held on 15–18 June. For the first time at SPIEF, the stand programme presented the Arctic agenda comprehensively and included a number of events as part of the Russian Chairmanship of the Arctic Council.
