Seven airfields to be reconstructed in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation by 2030
The airports not included in the National Project will be reconstructed by the Air Transport Infrastructure Development Fund.
22 November 2024For 2025–2030, it is planned to reconstruct 16 airfields, seven of which are located in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, said the country's Deputy Minister of Transport Alexander Poshivay at a meeting of the Council for the Development of the Far East, Arctic and Antarctic under the Federation Council, dedicated to the development of Arctic zone key settlements. This is reported by the Parlamentskaya Gazeta.
'In the Efficient Transportation System National Project, we have already for the period of 2025–2030 laid reconstruction of 16 airfields, of which seven are in the Arctic zone,' said Poshivay.
In addition, an Air Transport Infrastructure Development Fund has been created, which will start operating in 2025, the representative of the Ministry of Transport added. According to him, the fund will annually collect about RUB 12 bn, which will be used to reconstruct those airfields and airports that were not included in the national project.
'And another eight points in our plan deal with the Arctic zone. We will wait for comments, instructions and orders,' concluded Poshivay.
The Efficient Transportation System National Project will be divided into eight federal projects by mode of transportation. It includes programmes to develop roads, railways, maritime and river transport, and aviation links.
