ROSATOM and PAO NOVATEK will cooperate on decarbonisation and wind power development in the Arctic. The memorandum was signed on the first day of Russian Energy Week by Aleksey Likhachev, Director General of the state corporation, and Leonid Mikhelson, Chairman of the Management Board of PAO NOVATEK, according to TASS.

The document provides for the purchase of electricity generated at Rosatom's wind power plants by Novatek Group enterprises, in particular, the Gas Condensate Fractionation and Transshipment Complex in the port of Ust-Luga. The purchase of green electricity, as noted in the memorandum, will help reduce Novatek's carbon footprint, following the requirements of international standards.

In addition, the parties intend to cooperate in the development of wind energy in the difficult conditions of the Arctic. The memorandum also includes an assessment of the feasibility of implementing Rosatom's technical solutions in LNG and low-carbon hydrogen, ammonia, power generation and storage processes.

The fifth anniversary international forum Russian Energy Week (REN) is taking place from 12 to 14 October at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow. Some 40 business events are on the agenda, including panel sessions, international meetings, the 61st meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council, the Territory of Energy Dialogue conference and the annual meeting of the BRICS Energy Research Platform.
