Over two thousand people received free land via the Hectare in the Arctic programme

More than 8.1 thousand land plot applications were submitted within the Hectare in the Arctic programme. The contracts with 2.3 thousand citizens are already signed, reports the Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC).

18 March 2022

The highest number of applications received for lands in the Murmansk Region (3.8 thousand applications), the Republic of Karelia (2.2 thousand), the Arkhangelsk Region (over 1.1 thousand) and the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area (810 applications).

The land under "Far Eastern hectare" program can be obtained via the Internet, without unnecessary formalities, using the Federal Information System "НаДальнийВосток.РФ." Individually, you can takeup to 1 hectare land plot, and up to 10 hectares as part of a team, yet for each member of the group there should be no more than 1 hectare.

'Hectares' in the Arctic are given from 1 August 2021. Previously, the land was given to local residents in their 'homeland' regions, but since 1 February, all citizens of Russia have been able to receive land plots. About 20% of applications for free land plots within the Hectare in the Arctic programme were submitted by residents of non-Arctic regions of Russia, most of them from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novgorod. Generally, citizens take land in the Arctic territories for personal house building, business and tourism projects.

We remind you that the law on the "hectare" was developed by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
