A total of RUB 2 tn will be invested in its development.

The North Sea Route (NSR) is a key element in increasing the country's transport connectivity. About RUB 2 tn will be spent on its development over the next 13 years, of which about RUB 600 bn will come from the federal budget. This was reported by TASS, citing a statement by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the opening of the North Sea Route Development strategic session.

In this way, he says, a new Arctic economy is actually being formed. Mishustin noted that a number of projects have already been implemented.

The prime minister also said that the government had prepared a draft law on northern supply, which had already passed its first reading in the State Duma.

'But it's not just about delivering critical cargo to remote areas for people and organisations, although they account for around a third of the total transport by sea. Dynamic and reliable flows of construction materials and equipment are needed to implement such large-scale projects as Arctic LNG, which lead to the development of related industries and the overall Arctic and Far East regions,' he concluded.
