Khibinskaya Vesna 2022 All-Russian Cross-Country Skiing Competition to be held in Kirovsk

Approximately 200 athletes from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will take part in the international competition.

On 13 and 14 April, Kirovsk will host the 6th All-Russian Cross-Country Skiing Competition, part of the official calendar of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation. Its participants will compete for the prizes by the PhosAgro company. Approximately 200 athletes from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will take part in the international competition.

According to the Ministry of Sports of the Murmansk Region, the Khibinskaya Vesna race is the traditional final competition of ski racing season and an additional opportunity for athletes to get rating points in the individual classification.

The inauguration of the competition is to be held on 13 April at the Apatit Arena Ice Palace, with the race taking place on 14 April at the tracks of the Tirvas skiing complex. Mass 10/15 km freestyle starts will be part of the competition. The 10-km distance is for women, men will run 15 km.

Alexander Bolshunov, reigning three-time Olympic champion, two-time World Cup winner, skiathlon world champion, two-time winner of the Tour de Ski multiday race; Natalia Nepryaeva, Olympic Games champion, three-time Olympic medallist, three-time world championship medallist, the first Russian skier to win the Tour de Ski multiday race, are planning to participate in the 2022 Khibinskaya Spring; Ivan Yakimushkin, Olympic silver medallist and World Championships silver medallist; Maxim Tsvetkov, Olympic bronze medallist, world champion, European champion, biathlete; Alexander Terentyev, two-time Beijing Olympic bronze medallist, and other famous athletes. Soviet and Russian skiing stars Nikolay Zimyatov, Alexander Zavyalov, Mikhail Devyatyarov, Mikhail Ivanov and Sergey Kryanin will visit "Khibinskaya Vesna 2022" as the special guests. They and the Olympic champions participating in the race will hold master classes for young skiers of the Kola Peninsula.

The competition prize fund will be provided by PhosAgro. Cash prizes will be awarded to athletes who placed 1st to 6th, as well as to the coaches of the race winners.
