Investments in the construction of the Arktika data centre (DC) at the Kola Nuclear Power Plant in the Murmansk Region will amount to RUB 1.4 bn, according to a presentation by the plant's Director, Vasily Omelchuk. This refers to investments in 2022 prices, inclusive of VAT. This is reported by Interfax.

'We expect to have this data centre up and running by year's end,' Omelchuk stated during the project presentation. He noted that the modular data centre will house 48 racks. Its capacity will be approximately 1 MW.

'If there's demand for our data processing service, we'll be able to scale up this data centre quite rapidly,' the NPP Director elaborated.

The Kola NPP data centre is anticipated to serve as the foundational infrastructure for new high-load digital platforms and services in the North Sea Route and Arctic zone. These will be crucial for logistics, smart city management, tourism support and other regional development initiatives.
