Applications for the mass trek to the Romantics Glacier on 147August 2021 are now open. Hiking to the glacier, which has already become a symbol of tourism in Yamal, is one of the most popular and enjoyable routes in the Polar Urals, according to the official website of the local government.

The participants will trek 5 km to an ancient glacier located on the southern slope of the Rai-Iz massif in the picturesque valley of the Yenga-Yu River. This hike does not require any special preparation, and everyone who is over 18 years old and has no medical contraindications is welcome to join.

As Nail Khairullin, Head of the Department of Youth Policy and Tourism of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, noted, in the future, this event could become as recognisable as, for example, Reindeer Herder's Day, and could attract new tourists to Yamal.

The event will be held in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological measures. Up to 150 people, including the organisers, will be able to join the trip, according to the requirements for public events.
