Duma Committee approves zero mineral extraction tax on gas for Arctic ammonia and hydrogen projects

On Monday, the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes approved extending the zero mineral extraction tax (MET) rate for new gas and gas condensate extraction projects necessary for ammonia and hydrogen production to the entire Russian Arctic zone. Previously, this benefit was only available for gas from Yamal and Gydan in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. This is reported by TASS.

The amendment was introduced by State Duma deputies for the second reading of the bill, prepared as part of forming the federal budget parameters for 2025 and the planning period of 2026 and 2027. Alexey Sazanov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, also supported the amendment's adoption during the meeting.
